Founded by two friends to satisfy their love of craft beers. We started our journey in a tiny old piggery conversion in Manningtree in 2019 in one of the founder’s back garden. For over a year we were predominantly a cask beer producer. This reaffirmed our love for Pale Ale and resulted in the birth of College Hop-Out, our first cask Pale Ale. After various iterations, College Hop-Out has become one of the core beers we produce today.
We took back many gallons of beer from pubs to help weather the COVID storm resulting from multiple lockdowns. We decided to show our support for NHS staff and other front-line workers by brewing Good Times Are Coming.
We relocated to Prettyfields Vineyard in 2021. A local Vineyard producing English wines in the village of Ardleigh, just outside Colchester.
During this period, we started conversing with a loyal JackRabbit customer Bernie Barton about making an investment in JackRabbit Brewing Co. Bernie was driven by his love of JackRabbit beer, the brand, and an initiative to support local business in and around Dedham where he lives with his family. Soon Bernie had persuaded his friend Spencer Pettitt to return from hiking the Himalayas and to join the JackRabbit family. In October 2021 Bernie and Spencer took themselves off to Brew School to study for their brewing diplomas.
In late 2021 we invested in new equipment including a state of art brew house, canning and labelling equipment, as well as improving the infrastructure at the premises. We have transformed from garden shed hobby to modern Craft Brewery – We now have the potential to produce 15000 litres of beer each month.
Our beers include many styles of both traditional, and crafty creations. All brewed, packaged, stored, and sold in house, to ensure that JackRabbit quality is evident in every drop of beer we produce.
